Steve Merriman heads towards his fourth world championship title, Oblucki was again left to battle it out with Silvan for the runner-up spot on day one while Italian Mario Rinaldi placed fourth, just five second adrift of Silvan.
On day two Merriman again proved just too fast for his E1 class rivals and again walked away with the win. Improving from his sixth place finish on day one, Italian Simone Albergoni claimed the runner-up spot ahead of Silvan who again claimed third. With Oblucki squeezed off the podium into fourth, Rinaldi, despite his advancing years, proved that his day one result was no fluke by finishing fifth – his best WEC result this season.
